What is Form I20:
Form I-20 is a United States Department of Homeland Security document issued by colleges, universities, and vocational schools that provides supporting information for the issuance of a student visa or change of status (F, J and M non-immigrant statuses). Since the introduction of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), the form also includes the student tracking number (SEVIS number) for the student and program.

 

How long does it take to issue an I20?
HGU issues I-20 in 3 business days. The following is the checklist of documents to be provided to US Embassy/US Immigration office along with I-20 issued by our school.

 

Document Checklist for International Students

Domestic Graduate Transfer International Graduate Transfer
  1. Complete Application for Admission

  2. Copy of your Passport
    - Front and back page

  3. Copy of your I-94 and visa

  4. Copy of your stamped I-20
    - Copies of your I-20 at your port of entry and any OPT I-20s

  5. Official Transcripts
    - From all colleges/universities attended

  6. Affidavit of Support and I-134
    - Original copy required. Only necessary if you are being supported by another individual holding a US bank account

  7. Bank Statement showing $15,000 or equivalent
    - Original copy required. Account holder should be yourself or persons shown on your Affidavit of Support

  8. Proof of Health Insurance
    - Required after you arrive in the US. You may choose a private insurer or university sponsored health insurance

  9. F1 Transfer Form
    - Submit this form only if you are transferring from another University
  1. Complete Application for Admission

  2. Copy of your Passport
    - Front and back page

  3. Copy of your I-94 and visa

  4. Copy of your stamped I-20
    - Required after you arrive in the US

  5. Official Transcripts
    - From all colleges/universities attended

  6. Affidavit of Support
    - Original copy required from your home country

  7. Bank Statement showing $15,000 or equivalent
    - Original copy required. Account holder should be yourself or persons shown on your Affidavit of Support

  8. Proof of Health Insurance
    - Required after you arrive in the US. You may choose a private insurer or university sponsored health insurance

  9. Copy of GRE
    - Optional

  10. Copy of TOEFL/IELTS
    - Optional, used to determine English proficiency
 
You may submit copies of required documents to the Admissions Office to begin the application process, but all necessary originals must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office within 60 days of your first class. Please see the Application Instructions to determine what type of student you are.
